Coats 4 Kids - Rotary Club
Local Rotary Funds Winter Coats For Children At Westwood Primary School
The Rotary Clubs of Lowestoft and Lowestoft East Point have joined forces to donate £1000 to the national charity Coats4Kids to fund brand new winter coats for children at Westwood Primary School, Lowestoft.
The donation will provide 40 brand new coats, helping children arrive at school warm, dry and ready to learn through the winter months.
Coats4Kids works exclusively through primary schools. The school decides which children would benefit, and the charity has no contact with children or families. Coats are brand new, carry no charity branding, and families choose the size, style and colour themselves. They are delivered to the family home, packaged like any other online order.
John Hunt, President of the Rotary Club of Lowestoft, said: “A child who arrives at school cold and uncomfortable is already at a disadvantage before the day has begun. This is a simple, practical thing both Rotary Clubs can do for children in our own town, and we are delighted to be working with Westwood Primary School and with Coats4Kids to do it.”
Lauraine Barnes, Headteacher at Westwood Primary School, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the two Rotary Clubs for their very generous donations. By supporting our families to buy new winter coats for their children this year, we can help make sure all our pupils arrive at school warm, dry and ready to learn over the months ahead. It was a pleasure to welcome members of the Rotary Clubs into our school today and we look forward to continuing our work with them in the future”.
Peter Borner, Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Coats4Kids, said: “Coats4Kids began as a Rotary project, and Rotary clubs remain at the heart of how we reach children. What the two Lowestoft Rotary Clubs have done here will be felt in classrooms in Lowestoft this winter.”
