Actively Learning Together

Welcome to Westwood Primary School.

The staff, governors and children of Westwood Primary School would like to welcome you and your family to our school.

At Westwood Primary School we have a clear vision and determination to ensure all children are in receipt of high quality teaching and learning, make good progress and achieve true potential.

Westwood Primary School works in partnership with Grove Primary School. I am the Executive Headteacher of both schools and share my time between the schools. Both schools are lead by the Head of School in my absence. Additionally, there are other leadership, teaching and support staff shared roles across the two schools. Together, the schools strive for excellence, have a relentless drive for school improvement and benefit from the shared ethos and working practices.

Both schools offer a high quality education to all children. Our aim is to provide a caring, nurturing, stimulating, exciting and safe learning environment. We strongly value the importance of parents/carers and look forward to working in partnership with you.

Year 5! What a wonderful half term! Thank you to everybody who came to our share event on Monday! The children loved delivering a master class and teaching you the key mathematical skills that they have developed this year. In Literacy, we have finalised and published our persuasive letters. In Maths, we have been using a fraction of an amount to find the whole. All children have been extremely resilient and used the bar models to support our learning. In History, we concluded our learning to answer our end of unit question - Who were the most vicious - The Anglo Saxons or the Vikings? The children used key learning from a range of sources to support their answers. In Computing, we have enjoyed editing our videos. The children were extremely creative and used a variety of editing techniques such as transitions, filters and text. In Art, we have completed our sculptures inspired by Alberto Giacometti. Have a lovely half term everybody! See you very soon!
