💜 Reception 💜 This week, Reception class met their new teacher, Miss Pearce and spent the day in Year 1 ready for September. We have spent the.rest of the week having lots of fun in the garden. We finished the week with a Pirate day, where we walked the plank, made a pirate ship, followed a treasure map and found some gold! Finally, we finished the school year with a special picnic with our families. Thank you so much for our lovely cards and presents. We hope you all have a fantastic summer break. 💜 Nursery 💜 What an amazing year it has been in Nursery! Being a child's first teacher is such a privilege, and we feel incredibly lucky to have been part of these children's early learning journey. Throughout the year, they have shown resilience, determination, kindness, humour, and a real love of learning. We have loved watching their confidence grow and getting to know their wonderful and unique personalities. From laughter-filled days to proud learning moments, every child has made this year so special. 💜 Reception 💜 A wonderful penultimate week in Reception. The children have immersed in the 'Rumble in the Jungle' story and have enjoyed creating their own guess the animal pieces of writing. In Maths we have been subtracting and finding one less than amounts using cubes and counters. We have enjoyed a water safety assembly by the RNLI which has reminded us how to keep safe in and near water. Outside in the garden we have enjoyed lots of water play, obstacle courses and fun in the sand pit. Next week, the children will spend Monday with their new teacher in the Year 1 classroom and will spend the remainder of the week in Reception having lots of end of term fun. Have a great weekend! 💜 Years 1 & 2 💜 This week, Key Stage 1 visited the beach as part of our Geography unit, "Is Lowestoft a Wonder of the World?" The children had a fantastic time exploring the beach and sea, looking at the features of our coastline and talking about what makes Lowestoft special. They also enjoyed building sandcastles and working together in the sand. Well done, KS1, for being such enthusiastic explorers! 🍦🍭 PTFA Tuck Shop This Friday! 🍭🍦 The PTFA will be holding a tuck shop after school this Friday on the playground outside the Community Hub. ⚽🏆 DOUBLE CHAMPIONS! 🏆⚽ We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news from Westwood Primary School! A huge congratulations to both our Girls' Team and Boys' Team, who have each been crowned Terry Butcher Cup Champions! 🎉🎉 To have both teams lift the trophy is an incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work, dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship shown by all of our players throughout the competition. They represented Westwood with pride, determination, and resilience every step of the way. We couldn't be prouder of every child involved, as well as the staff and families who have supported them along the journey. What an amazing achievement for Team Westwood! Well done, champions! 🏆⚽

💜 Year 1 💜 We’ve had a very busy and exciting week in Year 1! In Literacy, the children wrote about special memories for someone special and shared their imaginative ideas linked to "If the World Were…”. In Maths, we have been learning all about money, recognising coins and practising how to use them. In History, the children explored amazing landmarks from around the world, including the Burj Khalifa and the Pyramid of Giza. We also had great fun taking part in a circus skills workshop, where the children learned new skills and showed fantastic teamwork. To top it all off, they proudly performed their dance for the whole school – they were amazing! Have a lovely weekend! Miss Shuffle and Miss Dennant

💜 Reception 💜 This week in Reception we had a fantastic visit to Africa Alive where we enjoyed seeing lots of different wild animals. The children represented the school brilliantly and showed excellent behaviours for learning. Circus Ferrel has arrived and we enjoyed a circus skills workshop where the children showed great resilience when trying new things such as poi, diablo and tight rope walking. We have also immersed in the Tiger Who Came to Tea and have written tea party invitations and shopping lists. We finished the week, watching a very special "showstopper" assembly in the big top and proudly performed our new circus skills to the whole school. Next week, we continue learning about Wild Animals and will share the story 'Rumble in the Jungle'. In Maths we are going to explore subtraction using cubes and counters. Circus Ferrel are performing Saturday and Sunday at 2pm - we would love to see you there! Have a fantastic weekend Mrs Gee, Mrs Cook and Mrs Hay

🏳️‍🌈 Pride 2026 🏳️‍🌈 Throughout June, we have been celebrating Pride month as a school. On Friday, each class was allocated a colour from the Pride flag and we became a beautiful rainbow across the school 💜
