💜 Year 1 💜 We’ve had a very busy and exciting week in Year 1! In Literacy, the children wrote about special memories for someone special and shared their imaginative ideas linked to "If the World Were…”. In Maths, we have been learning all about money, recognising coins and practising how to use them. In History, the children explored amazing landmarks from around the world, including the Burj Khalifa and the Pyramid of Giza. We also had great fun taking part in a circus skills workshop, where the children learned new skills and showed fantastic teamwork. To top it all off, they proudly performed their dance for the whole school – they were amazing! Have a lovely weekend! Miss Shuffle and Miss Dennant

💜 Reception 💜 This week in Reception we had a fantastic visit to Africa Alive where we enjoyed seeing lots of different wild animals. The children represented the school brilliantly and showed excellent behaviours for learning. Circus Ferrel has arrived and we enjoyed a circus skills workshop where the children showed great resilience when trying new things such as poi, diablo and tight rope walking. We have also immersed in the Tiger Who Came to Tea and have written tea party invitations and shopping lists. We finished the week, watching a very special "showstopper" assembly in the big top and proudly performed our new circus skills to the whole school. Next week, we continue learning about Wild Animals and will share the story 'Rumble in the Jungle'. In Maths we are going to explore subtraction using cubes and counters. Circus Ferrel are performing Saturday and Sunday at 2pm - we would love to see you there! Have a fantastic weekend Mrs Gee, Mrs Cook and Mrs Hay

🌟 Celebration Assembly 🌟 It was too hot for us to hold our usual whole school Celebration Assembly in the hall on Friday so, instead, each class held their own mini version in their classrooms! Congratulations to all of this week's Active Award winners! 💜

🏳️‍🌈 Pride 2026 🏳️‍🌈 Throughout June, we have been celebrating Pride month as a school. On Friday, each class was allocated a colour from the Pride flag and we became a beautiful rainbow across the school 💜

💜 Year 5 💜 What a fantastic week we've had in Year 5! In Literacy, we continued to immerse ourselves in the story of Macbeth, using our Rainbow Grammar knowledge to create sentences that effectively displayed character. In Reading, we have been enjoying Romeo and Juliet. In Maths, we worked hard to perfect our skills in using a protractor to measure and draw angles, as well as calculating angles around a given point. In Science, we planned our enquiry questions and are looking forward to carrying out our investigations next week. In Geography, we analysed the causes and effects of human threats on our oceans and discussed how our actions impact marine environments. In Computing, we used filtering tools within a database to answer specific questions efficiently. In DT, we explored a range of strengthening techniques and materials to support free-standing structures. A huge well done to all of the children for their fantastic effort during the Year 5 SATs—you have all been amazing, and we are incredibly proud of you! 💜 Year 4 💜 In Literacy, we have been using figurative language to describe what can be seen and then adding fronted adverbials in sound description. In Maths, we have been identifying angles and types of triangles. In Geography, we sorted human and physical features. Then we looked at the different locations we visited on our beach trip and wrote about them. In Science, we performed a test to answer questions: Is there a link between height and shoe size. 💜 Year 3 💜 A fantastic week Year 3! In Literacy we have begun looking at persuasive writing, in Reading we have continued reading Anisha and in Maths we have been looking at the properties of different shapes. In PE we have looked at racket and ball skills by using backhand serves. In PSHE we looked at things that keep our bodies healthy and things that can harm our bodies, in DT we designed our cushion covers, in Science we tested to see if a larger magnet is stronger than a smaller one and in R&WV we look at how using the 5K’s can influence decisions made by Sikhs. 💜 Year 2 💜 Year 2 have had a fantastic 2 weeks and have been busy with lots of exciting learning and experiences! One of the highlights was our wonderful trip to the local fire station. The children had an amazing time learning all about the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe. They explored the fire engines, tried on some of the equipment, and asked lots of thoughtful questions. It was a brilliant opportunity to bring our learning to life and learn more about the people who help us every day. Back in the classroom, the children have continued to work incredibly hard, showing enthusiasm, curiosity and kindness in everything they do. We are so proud of their positive attitudes and the progress they are making as we approach the end of another successful year. Well done, Year 2—you have been superstars! 💜 Year 1 💜 What a fantastic week in Year 1!⭐ In Geography, we explored the mighty Amazon River and learned some amazing facts about where it is and why it is so important. During PSHE, the children have been learning about the Pantasaurous, thinking carefully about how we can be kind, respectful and supportive of one another. In Maths, we’ve been working hard on place value to 100, showing great focus and confidence with numbers. In Literacy, the children proudly published their own books inspired by The Most Magnificent Thing – we are so impressed with their creativity and perseverance! We finished the week in the best way possible with a water splash park and a well‑earned ice lolly to cool down. Well done, Year 1 – you’ve worked incredibly hard this week! 💜 Reception 💜 This week in Reception we have immersed in the book 'The Visitors'. The children have created their own art work using natural resources and have created stories and have written sentences about their picture. In Maths, we have been using mathematical frames to find pairs of numbers to total 10. In the garden we have enjoyed playing in the shade and have spent time talking about the warm temperatures and how to stay safe in the sun. We even had a special treat of ice pops in the garden delivered by our Year 6 friends. We ended the week with a visit from Chef Nik from Edward's and Blake, who talked to us about healthy eating, which linked to our "Very Hungry Caterpillar" topic. We finished a very hot week, playing in the shade and having a "spa" in the garden. Next week we visit Africa Alive on Monday and welcome Circus Ferrell to our school. A fabulous week awaits us! 💜 Year 4 💜 In Literacy, we made a start on our diary entries using expanded noun phrases and appositives. In Maths, we have been recognising angles as turns. In DT, we followed a simple fruit loaf recipe. Then we evaluated our final product by saying what we liked, what we didn't like and how we could improve it. In Science, we conducted different investigations and had to find out the unit needed, the equipment used and record it accurately. In Geography, we went on a trip that focussed on both the physical and human features. We also observed and recorded key features such as coastlines and developments in the area. What a fantastic day! To end the week, we had our Sports Day where we enjoyed a morning filled with energy, teamwork and unforgettable moments! 💜 Year 5 💜 What a fantastic week of learning and achievement in Year 5! In Literacy, we immersed ourselves in the story of Macbeth, writing detailed chronological recounts of Scene 1 and using figurative language to vividly describe the setting and characters. In Maths, we developed our understanding of angles by learning how to classify them accurately. In Reading, we finished our class novel, The Garden of Lost Secrets. We made informed inferences, discussed the ending thoughtfully, and completed our own book reviews. In RWV, we explored how Buddhism is practised around the world and learned about the diversity of Buddhist traditions and beliefs. In Geography, we carried out extensive research into the Great Barrier Reef, discovering the incredible ecosystems it supports and why they are so important. In PE, we developed our bowling skills and applied them in a fun class game of rounders. During Athletics, we focused on improving our relay techniques and teamwork. Today, we enjoyed an amazing Sports Day! The children showed fantastic enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship throughout the event. A huge well done to everyone who took part, and a big thank you to all the families and friends who came along to support us.
