Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
The Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) is part of the Equality Act 2010. It requires public authorities - including schools - to actively consider how their decisions and policies affect people with protected characteristics.
Under section 149 of the Equality Act, schools must have due regard to three key aims:
1. Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation
2. Advance equality of opportunity
3. Foster good relations between groups
Our school's equality and diversity objective for 2025/26 is:
- To improve staff awareness of unconscious bias and inclusive practice
We have chosen this objective:
- To ensure our staff understand their duties in relation to good equality practices.
- To improve staff confidence in inclusive practice and unconscious bias awareness.
We plan to achieve this objective by:
- Delivering regular staff CPD on unconscious bias and inclusive pedagogy.
- Embedding equality into everyday classroom practice.
- Promoting a whole school culture of inclusion and belonging.
- Strengthening monitoring for disproportionality.
