Parent View

Thank you very much for taking the time to complete the Parent/Carer Questionnaire. We have been busy analysing the outcomes. If you didn’t manage to complete one and you would like to, please ask for a copy at the school office.

The questionnaire has provided us with a good overview of parent’s views and has highlighted some areas that we could do better at. Overall, we are pleased with the positive responses and it is evident that a vast majority of parents/carers are in support of the school, the strength of the Leadership Team and quality of the Teaching and Learning.

Key Strengths

The following statements had over a 100% agreement rate:

  • My child is happy at this school
  • My child makes good progress at this school
  • My child feels safe at this school
  • My child is well looked after at this school
  • My child is taught well at this school
  • I receive valuable information about my child’s attainment and progress
  • My child does well at this school

The following statements received 96% or more agreement rate:

  • My child receives appropriate homework for their age (4% don’t know)
  • The school makes sure its pupils are well behaved (2% disagree, 2% don’t know)
  • Bullying is dealt with quickly and effectively (7% don’t know)
  • The school is well led and managed (2% don’t know, 2% disagree)
  • Concerns have been dealt with properly when raised (6% don’t know and 3% disagree)
  • The school makes me aware of what my child will be learning during the year (2% disagree, 2% don’t know)
  • There is a good range of subjects available to my child at this school (4% don’t know)
  • Communication between parent and school is strong (4% disagree)
  • I would recommend this school to others (4% don’t know)

The following statements had 90% or less agreement rate:-

  • The school has high expectations for my child (10% don’t know)
  • My child has SEND and the school gives them the support they need (10% don’t know
  • My child can take part in clubs and activities at this school (9% don’t know)
  • The school supports my child’s wider personal development (15% don’t know)

Don’t Know Responses

A small number of parents stated that they ‘didn’t know’, which meant that an agreement or disagreement response wasn’t registered. If parents were able to make a judgement, this could have been a positive response. For example, overall, for the statement, ‘the school has high expectations for my child’, 10% of parents ‘didn’t know’ but 90% were in agreement. It could mean that parents were unsure as to what the question meant or were unsure of the answer.

This tells us that there is some work for us to do with parents/carers to ensure the following:

  1. Parents know what we do in school so that they can make a judgement.
  2. We reflect upon what we do and invite parents to contribute to that reflection process.
