OFSTED HAVE RATED WESTWOOD GOOD AND OUTSTANDING!
I am delighted to inform you that after our Ofsted Inspection on 21st and 22nd February, Westwood Primary has been graded Good with Outstanding Early Years provision. We are so pleased that our journey to be the best primary school in Lowestoft is being achieved.
Ofsted have 5 main areas that they look at in detail. These are Effectiveness of Leadership and Management, Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment, Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare, Outcomes for Children and Early Years Provision. All areas were judged to be a very strong good. In fact, we were extremely close to achieving outstanding in three categories. The Early Years provision successfully maintained the Outstanding judgement it earned at the last inspection in 2015. Fantastic!
We are all so proud to have achieved this fantastic report. Highlights include:
“A warm, safe and positive climate nurtures pupils’ personal and academic development well.”
“Parents are fulsome in their praise of the school; and how it is helping their children to achieve well.”
“The Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher have created this positive culture of learning. Their excellent leadership has enabled the school to improve significantly over the last few years.”
Teaching is good across the school.”
“Teaching assistants are used highly effectively in lessons…...They provide exceptionally good support.”
“Children in the early years make excellent progress and achieve a good level of development….because the provision is tailored exceptionally well to their needs.”
Thank you so much for your continued support of the school. Ofsted Inspectors were thoroughly delighted with the support parents give the school. We have seen so many of you at family cafes, parent interview and the bedtime stories event. There is even more to come during the summer term as we will be holding our summer fete and sports events.
I wish all of you a very happy and relaxing Easter break and we will see you all on Tuesday 18th April.
