Science enrichment

Learning outside of the Classroom

Our aim is for pupils to enjoy and experience a variety of Educational Science themed workshops and visits. Previously, pupils have enjoyed Medial Mavericks, Carlton marshes, farm trips. Our inspiring assemblies invite professionals to speak to our pupils about their exciting careers in science as well as science themed topics.

Enrichment

We make good use of the outdoor facilities within and beyond our school community. The immediate school grounds enable us to compare and contrast animals and plants in different habitats during different seasons during our timetabled Woodland sessions. Beyond our immediate grounds, our plan to build a local allotment will provide opportunities for us to observe plants first hand, as well as helping us forge links with members of our local community. For activities such as pond dipping, which cannot be conducted within our immediate locality, we travel to Carlton Marshes.

Extra curricular clubs

The children enjoy a range of extracurricular clubs linked to science. A hugely popular club is our Chicken Club where pupils care for and carefully handle the three school chickens. Each year the KS1 pupils also hatch our very own chicks.  Key Stage two children are offered attendance at a STEM themed club during the Spring term.
