Jackie Cutchey

I have been involved in primary education for more than 40 years, spending the last16 years of my career as headteacher. I am on the board of trustees of two academy sponsors, both as a volunteer. I am committed to supporting and challenging schools in order to provide the best for all learners. I am proud to be associated with

Westwood Primary, a great school!

Karen Mitchell

I have been working at Westwood for 5 years and have been a governor for 2 years.  I was part of the team that has transformed the school and am committed to its success and its journey to outstanding.

Rae Aldous

I have been headteacher at Westwood Primary School since September 2012. Working in partnership with The Active Learning Trust, through careful recruitment of outstanding staff and targeted school improvement the school was successfully lead  out of Special Measures and has been transformed resulting in a learning community which is both happy and harmonious and where strong leadership ensures positive outcomes for all children and their families.

Kerry Read

Kerry Read joined Westwood Primary in 2013 as Deputy Headteacher and EYFS Leader, with one of her main objectives to raise standards in EYFS. Kerry has been influential in changing outcomes for children at Westwood Primary, and for rapid school improvement not only in EYFS, but across the whole school.

Mary Corker

I am a retired teacher who continues to have an active part in the life of schools. Providing children with a sound education and supporting young children to mature into well rounded adults are extremely important to me. Having seen the school excel over the last few years, I am extremely proud to be a governor and thoroughly enjoy supporting the learning journeys of our local children.

Mike Chaplin

I have worked in both primary & high schools in the Lowestoft area for many years. This includes delivering PE & Sports as part of the curriculum and extra curricula. I also work for Positive Futures which provides activities for our young adults in the evenings and during school holidays.  My wife is a primary teacher working at another Lowestoft School. All children are entitled to a high quality education and as a governor, I provide challenge and support to Westwood so we can get in right for the children in our community.

John Hughes

I have been involved in education for many years having worked as a high school teacher but presently run the Lowestoft School Sports Partnership. My specific work as a governor has included supporting PE Premium and Active Playgrounds. I regularly visit the school meeting with staff and children. I have a good understanding of the schools strengths and area for development and see the governor role as being both supportive and challenging.

Anna Ball

I am a parent governor and both my children attend the school. I not only live in the local community but also work in it. I  support children with behavioural difficulties and those who have been permanently excluded from school. I am aware of the challenges the school faces but am supportive of the schools drive for continuous improvement.

Iona Ellyatt

I too am a parent governor. My daughter attends Westwood Primary School. Living in the local community and being present at the school enables me to have a good understanding of the needs of our families and our children. I work as a Science Teacher at a local high school and have a good understanding of education and child development. I have high aspirations for the children of Lowestoft and believe all children are entitled to the very best education we can provide. We all want what is best for our children and this is at the heart of my work as a governor at Westwood.

Emma Hall

I was originally elected to the board of governors as a parent governor but now represent the Trust. I have a daughter who attends the school and my eldest daughter used to attend the school. Living in the local area, I am aware of the challenges that bring to the school. The school is committed to ensuring positive outcomes for each and every one of the children who attends and I am proud to be part of the leadership team that supports this.

Maria Smith

I am also a Teaching Assistant working at Westwood. I joined the school in 2013 but am new to the role of governor having been elected by the staff in September 2015. I am an active member of our local community and enjoy attending the local choir group. I’m proud of our town and the young people that live in it. I 100% back the raising of aspirations and outcomes for our local children.
